24 hour game? Empty 24 hour game?

I am hoping to have a big ass scenario game that should last over night and into the next day over the summer. This game will be for only the most hardcore scenario players, and will probably not take place in my woods. If we want to camp over night and actually play during the night, we are going to need a bigger woods, such a Nick's woods.

What we need

-A creative theme, such as D-Day

-Consent from Nick to use his woods

-List of people that can definetly make it

-And, coinciding with the list of people, a date

This is going to take a lot of prep, which is why i am starting this now. When we have all the details, i will post a topic in the games forum that will list all the specifics.

Also, we need a basic system of going about things during the day, i.e. a respawm system, etc.
I have an idea for this:
-We have a respawn system either time based(respawns r every 15 minutes) or have it so that u have to walk to the respawn point(an hq) and then ur back in
-A point system, including points for kills and objective completions
-A base system, at least including an hq for each team, maybe some forts
-And a set of rules and refs

yes, we definately need to get another big game in the works! last years was a blast! I hope this years can be even better.

those are just a bunch off the top of my head, and as for who can come...me and my brother will definately be there! We should seriously start compiling a list and spreading the word...so post up everyone!

based on the size of our playing field, and the amount of players, I think we should definately have timed reinsertions. The West Point game was about 4,000 people over several square miles, so instant respawn wasn't that big of a deal, but 20-30 kids on a couple of acres would require timed reinsertions. HQ's are a good idea, most likely for respawn, but we also have to take staging areas into account, perhaps each teams HQ would essentially act as not only a strategic position, but a place to refill paint, fix your gun, etc. while youre out, becuase no one wants to hike all the way back up to the house. On the other hand, you should only take paint, and other essentials to the HQ, not your whole gear bag. The point system will need a lot of work as well in order to keep the game dynamic.

So r u hoping to have the game at my house, becuase with a lot of people, my woods can get cramped. My house would be good in a sense due to the amount of bunkers already there. If we choose to play at my house, i suggest a horizontal playing field(as in the same way the river is, not the river is the dividing section), or a sort of combination, to make the game more interesting. Also, we need to think about a way to continue playing during the night, or if we should.

Nice, been waiting for this topic to pop up. Defintely should not be what Timmo suggested 20-30 people over 24 hours? More like 10 people playing constantly with 20 pussies wimping out. I say keep it small, keep it "intense", and keep it long as possible. 10-16 people would be perfect. Also when do you want to start the game? Early in the morning, noon, afternoon, or night? I would suggest afternoon as normal so we all get a good nights sleep, than can set up b4 the game actually begins.

Next, about the refill/pb stations, how will we set them up so they are safe and out of the way? I would just say put up a couple of deer fence poles, and set up some mesh or deer fencing around them to prevent any paintballs from gettings through. We also need to alert anyone that does not have compressed air that they need to buy some more CO2 canisters. Also one respawn point or two? I think two since we have to separate teams.

Re-inseration
We can defintely not do the walk back to the HQ insertaion, the game would be much to fast, and we would all run out of either paint or air very fast. We should have a stop watch/clock set up to go off every 10/15 minutes to alert everyone to the insertation. Secondly, what do we do about camping the respawn point? Set up caution tape maybe? It all really depends on who we invite to the game. Most of the more intense players are honest.

Night Play
Flashlights are a big thing. Do we allow them at all times or only in emergencies? How big can they be? Can bases have the 100,00 candle light beam lights? Are lamps aloud? How do we tell if you have been hit or not? Once again this all revoles around honesty.

Food
No doubt we all will be hungry, what do we do about food? Do we allow it at the respawn point? At the bases? or around the field?

Attacking

I say we allow attacking of the bases even when people are resting at their bases and even at night. What i think is if you need a hour or two of sleep go to your respawn point and sleep behind the protective fence WITH your mask on.

Nuemann, let me answer your questions:

Paint/CO2

I think i might convince my dad to buy a co2 tank, like those big ones, and as for paint: byop, but well most likely have a few extra boxes.

Safe areas

I will have two areas by the hq(there will be two hq's) that are completly safe and u can take off ur mask and fill up, and there will be rules about them, such as u can only go in if ur out, u cant shoot at these areas, etc.

Night Time

During the night light are allowed, and there definetly will be lights up in the hq's. Also, night play will revolve around the honor system. As always, use caution. I think, but im not sure, that u guys would like to sleep at some point during the night, so bring tents. The game will never stop officially, so always try to keep a man or two on guard. Other than that, there r no rules so sneak attacks, spec ops missions, and nvd's are all allowed. Be creative, and if both teams r tired, the generals might meet and call a ceasefire(could also happen at any time during the day)

More rules and stuff

Each team will have a general, hq, and various bunkers. I think the game should be played horizontally, as in the way the river flows. There will need to be refs of some sort. Points will be awarded for stuff like kills, bunker captures, and other various tasks.(when someone dies, they have to sign a list or something, so points can be awarded). Respawns will be every 10-15 minutes. Food will be provided in the "safe zones," which will be located behind the teams respective hq. And i think the house we r building will be one teams hq. the other can be by the blinds(just a suggestion). A small game of 5-8 hardcore players per team would be far better than a large game of all pussies, but it is still more exciting to have a lot of people(like at west point where there was like 600 lots were good, and lots were bad, and it was fun).

If you need a ref like you said, I might be able to do it. Ive refereed paintball before so it would be no problem. I would just need atleast one other person with me to cover each sides. Pm me if your interested

DP, about the air...i talked to a scuba shop the other day. and i dont know about co2, but i have been considering buying an 80 cubic ft. air tank, and paintball reg adapter for roughly $200...the cost to fill the whole thing up at the scuba store = $6, the retail value of fills you would get out of it = $50-$100. so they are definately worth while investments.

I have an idea for scoring, or atleast one way to obtain points. Put somekind of bucket near each HQ. Maybe about 20 feet away, easy to defend, but not completely impossible to reach by the offense. Teams would recieve points for each unbroken paintball in their opponents bucket. Players could get paintballs in by any means necessary, wether they sprint right up to it, or lob one in from a distance (which would be hard to do). Once a player gets a paintball in the bucket, they must return to their HQ before he do it again.

This would be particularly good for night game stealth operations.

I like the scuba tank idea, and if we got a co2 tank that would kick ass. The areas for refills would have to be somewhere were both teams can go, becuase we will only have one of each kind of refill. We should all chip in like $20 bucks for buying the scuba and CO2 tanks.

For the point system, we should have more of a flag based system, were each team captues bunkers of the other team. Also, if you have ever played Star Wars Battlefront, and come on, who hasn't, then u will know what im talking about. When a team captues a bunker, they should be able to respawn from that bunker. To make sure its not like complete chaos, some bunkers should be respawn points(located more in the center), some should be ammo, and some should be defensive. We can put boxes of paint and CO2 cans in the ammo bunkers, a stop watch or the same device as in the main hq's for respawnings in the respawn bunkers, and in the defensive bunkers, well, they should just be forts.

Points can be for bunkers controlled, kills, and maybe tim's idea or some form of it for more ways to get points.

I think that this a sick idea and I think we could do the spanish american but thats just imo. Also i could pitch in some money for a Co2 tank but i need most of my money to buy a gun(and sell my old one) but if i get a gun to play by then im definetly in and i could make some cool scenario weapons like flame throwers, rocket launchers, and turrets(in order from easiest to hardest to make) I dont know if you guys would want those but i think it would be cool to have people with different weapons.

Ya that would be cool andre, maybe we could have like one special weapons person per team. That would be a cool idea and i would give u money if u needed it to make those turrets and flame throwers, but rocket launchers might be a little use less. You should definetly get a gun, even if u can't find a good one, u can just get like a tippmann 98 or tippmann alpha black i think they r $100, but idk. A cheap gun is better than no gun

Yesh money could be an isssue and i haven't made turret designs yet but once i have both ill post them. I will even make them in flash so you can see how they work

Dude i just got some money for my birthday and im making like $20 a week for mowing the lawn, and my dad is willing to pay for lots of stuff paintball related, so i could get parts for turrets and what not.

WHY DOES NOBODY EVER GO ON THIS ANYMORE????????????

I go on in bio class and thats sick i get 100$ for every one day catering job i do so thats about 1 to 200$ dollars a week so i can buy a gun and get some parts just tell me how many of what do you want.

Umm. ask Andre. Its gonna b an actual working gun i think. Andre's black he will be able to make a turret with a used q-tip, some elmer's glue, a cardboard box and some watermelon so dont worry.

yeah hes in my art class. he ones made a working robot out of a piece of gum i stepped on. at least he wont be spending 200 dollars on a gun and then 100 on parts for it. he'll just buy a pack of q-tips from the dollar store and make some guns out of that

We need to start thinking about a date for the game. I'm thinking sometime late july or early August. Post here what days you will be free this summer, or what days u will be gone, whichever is shorter. Ill try to send out txts to everyone who plays pb and compile a list of possible days.
